Athol Fugard's 'Master Harold'...and the boys has extended again at off-Broadway's Pershing Square Signature Center. The drama will now run through December 11 (instead of the previously announced December 4). The Signature Theatre production officially opened on the Irene Diamond Stage on November 8.
The play, which premiered on Broadway in 1982, takes place in a small tea shop in South Africa in 1950, where two black men and a young white boy joke and dance together, defying the brutalities of apartheid through their joyous friendship. However, festering issues of family, race, and power are not so easy to ignore, and a single phone call can trigger catastrophe.
The cast includes Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah, Leon Addison Brown and Noah Robbins.
